Elliott and ATCB offer Wireless seminar this November!
Elliott Laboratories and American TCB will present the latest
information on FCC, Canadian, European, and international
certification requirements in a seminar titled
Testing and Certification of Wireless Devices. This
two-day seminar featuring information on International Approvals will
be presented on November 13 and 14, 2006 at the Sheraton Sunnyvale
Hotel, California.
Who should attend this seminar
This seminar is being presented to designers, developers, and
testers of wireless products. As the technologies evolve, the
regulations for measurement and certification of wireless products
are constantly evolving and creating challenges for electronics
industry. Keeping abreast of these changes and the nuances of the
regulations is critical for speeding electronics products'
time-to-market. Fierce competition from rival developers creates
additional pressure to design the devices for compliance with the
regulatory requirements and "getting it right the first time."
Why attend this seminar
New spectrum and services are being allocated in the US and
abroad as the demand for higher speed and multi-point access to
information pushes developers to create highly integrated products.
Exotic, broadband modulation techniques cram more bits-per-hertz into
the allocated spectrum. As it is not uncommon to find
multiple-transmitter devices, the challenge to certify these devices
creates issues dealing with radiation hazards, electromagnetic
compatibility (EMC) and certification strategies.
Instructors:
Our lecturers have a wealth of experience and information in the
field of product certification and will share their perspective and
insight on the regulations and evolving requirements for radio
frequency systems.
-
Art Wall, Former Deputy Chief of the FCC Laboratory
-
Dennis Ward, Reviewing Engineer, AmericanTCB
-
David Bare, Chief Technical Officer, Elliott Laboratories
The goal of this seminar is to present the latest information on
these evolving requirements and to give attendees better
understanding of the processes and procedures for approving Wireless
equipment.

EU Parliament Approves New Battery Directive
The Parliament of the European Union (EU) has approved a
directive that establishes aggressive EU-wide targets for the
collection of spent batteries and accumulators.
Under the provisions of the EU's new battery directive, EU member
states will be expected to implement national requirements that will
achieve minimum battery collection rates of 25% by 2012 and 45% by
2016. To do so, manufacturers and distributors will be required to
take back all used portable batteries and accumulators at no cost to
consumers, and to establish convenient recycling collection points by
not later than the end of 2008.
Until the final version of the directive has been published in
the Official Journal, our readers can view the joint text of the
directive approved by the Conciliation Committee at
