Commerce Department Releases Report on E-Waste Policy Issues
The Technology Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce
has released a report that highlights issues facing manufacturers,
retailers, recyclers and others as they adopt policies and practices
to manage discarded electronic products.
The report, entitled Recycling Technology Products: An Overview
of E-Waste Policy Issues, provides a detailed overview of the
different components of an electronic recycling system, and describes
different recycling models in use or under discussion in the United
States and around the world. However, the most valuable sections of
the report may be the appendices, which incorporate in a single
document international, federal, state and local legislation and
current initiatives involving the recycling of electronic waste.

Elliott Laboratories and ECMG form Alliance for EMC Services in US
and Overseas Markets
SUNNYVALE, CA, October 12 - Elliott Laboratories and EMC
Compliance Management Group (ECMG) have formed an alliance to provide
EMC testing and consulting services to ECMG customers in the US and
overseas markets including China and Taiwan. Effective immediately,
ECMG will outsource all of its US-based EMC business to Elliott
Laboratories and the two companies will work jointly to expand their
business relationship to provide compliance testing and consulting
services to off-shore manufacturers. ECMG's choice of Elliott
Laboratories for this alliance is testimony to Elliott's efforts to
develop the industry's leading EMC engineering facilities and staff
in Northern California.

Eddie Pavlu, President of Elliott Laboratories. "This partnership
reflects our continuing efforts to consolidate the EMC testing and
consulting business here in the San Francisco Bay Area and provides
us with a strong partner to support our expansion into China and
Taiwan where we can bring our strong technical expertise and
extensive accreditations to offshore manufacturers. We look forward
to working closely with ECMG and expanding this alliance as we move
ahead together."
Elliott Laboratories operates one of the West Coast's premier EMC
testing facilities in Fremont, California, with one 10-meter
semi-anechoic chamber and two 5-meter semi-anechoic chambers, in
addition to a full suite of EMC immunity/susceptibility labs. And in
the company's Sunnyvale, California facility, a two acre Open Area
Test Site (OATS) complex houses 4 test sites capable of testing at
3-meter and 10-meter distances. Additionally, the Sunnyvale facility
houses Elliott's two 3-meter chambers, ESD Lab, Screen Room, EMC
debug lab, Product Safety lab and more. These two facilities, lying
just 15 miles apart, represent one of the most modern and high
bandwidth testing centers in the industry, capable of servicing the
needs of a wide range of product manufacturers.
