ELLIOTT LABORATORIES ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING OF MASSIVE NEW COMPLIANCE ENGINEERING AND TESTING FACILITIES IN FREMONT, CA

27,000 Square Foot Test Lab is among the largest in Bay Area

FREMONT, Calif. - Mar. 17, 2003 - In response to growing demand for high quality compliance engineering services and state-of-the-art testing facilities, Elliott Laboratories will open a brand new 27,000 square foot testing and engineering center in Fremont, California in April 2003. This massive new compliance facility, complete with three brand new state-of-the-art anechoic testing chambers, is among the largest and most technologically advanced in the region.

Companies like Elliott Laboratories provide the regulatory compliance testing and consulting services that manufacturers of electrical devices - such as computers, cell phones and telecommunications equipment - need to legally sell their products in various global markets. In addition to basic product safety testing, this includes testing for "Electromagnetic Compatibility" (EMC), which refers to the ability of an electrical device to operate without interfering with or being disrupted by other nearby electrical devices. Regulatory and voluntary EMC and Product Safety standards have been established for the sale of electrical devices in most industrialized nations.

Although many of the companies that are consumers of compliance engineering services in the Silicon Valley area have gone through significant business contractions over the last few years, Elliott Laboratories continues to attract new customers in this tough economic environment due to its reputation for quality service and competitive pricing. Since 1979, Elliott Laboratories has provided compliance testing and consulting services for a wide array of large and small product designers and manufacturers throughout the region. The company counts many Fortune 500 companies among its list of clients.

"We assessed the economic environment, evaluated the level of demand for our services and ultimately decided that this was the right time to invest in the future of the company," said Eddie Pavlu, President and CEO of Elliott Laboratories. "We saw some of our competitors shutting down facilities and we knew that the commercial real estate market was really depressed, but our customers were still bringing us business and asking for larger testing facilities. We run a solid business and financing for the expansion was not a problem, so we decided to take advantage of the opportunities that we saw before us."

The new testing facilities, located at 41039 Boyce Road at Stevenson Avenue, were custom built for Elliott Laboratories by ETS-Lindgren, a leading global provider of components and systems that measure, shield and control electromagnetic energy. The 10-meter anechoic chamber has over 64,000 cubic feet of interior space, a ceiling height of almost 30 feet and contains a turntable capable of holding a distributed load of 4,400 pounds. This chamber and one of the 5-meter chambers will be used for measuring radiated and conducted electromagnetic emissions, while the other 5-meter chamber will be used primarily for radiated immunity testing. In addition to the three anechoic chambers, four spacious EMC labs will be available for a wide variety of immunity tests, such as electrostatic discharge.

The new Elliott Laboratories testing facilities in Fremont will be open for business in early April 2003. Financing for the expansion was provided by Comerica Bank.
